FEBRUARY MEETING with City Council President Dan Davis

Our next meeting will be in the private room at Cobbletones at the Harbour off Atlantic Blvd. Please join us for drinks and to meet and talk with our guest speaker City Council President Daniel Davis.

Daniel Davis grew up in Jacksonville with the desire to one day serve his community in public office. Daniel accomplished that goal in April of 2003, when he was elected as City Councilman, representing District 12 on the Westside of Jacksonville. During his second year in office, Daniel was the recipient of the 2004-2005 Charles D. Webb Award, the City Council's most prestigious internal honor.

Daniel has previously served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and was a member of the Rules Committee, Growth Management Committee and Value Adjustment Board. He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the State Impact Fee Committee.

For the 2006-2007 Council Year, Daniel was elected Vice President of the City Council. He will serve on the Finance Committee and the Audit Committee and will serve as Vice Chair of the Personnel Committee.

Daniel is the Director of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), representing the building and construction industry in Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties on state-wide issues. He is involved with the Builders Care program through NEFBA, reaching out into the community to repair severely damaged houses belonging to our area's elderly and disadvantaged.

Daniel participates in other community organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors for Emergency Pregnancy Services (EPS) and the Westside Civic Association. He is a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church and recently received a leadership award for his work with the Trinity Rescue Mission--Women and Children's Shelter.

Daniel and his wife, Rebekah, have been married ten years and have four children, two girls and two boys.
