Warning! These stories are not the kind that help you sleep better at night. I heard about both of these stories today on the the David Boze radio show. I thought I should warn those of you that have kids in school. It would be a good idea to find out what your local schools current policy is on sexual abuse in the classroom

'The Seattle Public School district will pay a total $3 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the students in the case of former Seattle fifth-grade teacher Laurence E. "Shayne" Hill, 58, who was sentenced in 2005 to more than five years in prison for molesting students during the 20-plus years he worked for Seattle Public Schools.' Personally, I think 5 years is not enough time to serve for this kind of act. On the radio, the an attorney for the victims, named Ron Bemis, said that there were over 100 sightings of inappropriate behavior of Hill toward students seen by 15 different teachers. Teacher Carl Leede... does that ring a bell? If not, it may be because when the Kokanee Elementary near Woodinville quietly settled the case of Leede assaulting girls, for an amount of $700,000. A confidentiality agreement ordered documents destroyed, computer records purged, and lips and court records sealed. If the 3 of Leede's victims say an ill word about the teacher who assaulted them or the district that made it possible-- they face a fine of $10,000!!! Is there pubic outcry about this?
